Making Scones

Preheat oven to 190C

Ingredients:

350g self-raising flour
1 1/2 tea spoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 table spoons icing sugar

Sift all dry ingredients in large bowl twice,
in another bowl mix together

150mls milk
150mls cream
45g melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Make a well in the dry ingredients
and pour the wet mixture in the hole.
Mix together using 2 butter knifes and be careful that  you don't over mix it. Put it on a floured surface and gently press with your hands, grab a 5cm cutter and cut 12 scones. Place on oven tray lined with baking paper and in the oven it goes for 10-15 minutes till lightly golden.
My favourite is to eat them with strawberry jam and butter - enjoy!

  2. Hi Ebony

Those scones look super yummy! Are those the ones that you made?
I would like to try your recipe. What heat should I set the oven to?

  3. Hi Ebony
Thanks for sharing these really clear instructions for how to make delicious, buttery scones. I can't wait to try them too. I can see that you have to pre-heat the oven to 190 degrees Celcius. I will try that later, and I hope mine turn out as well as yours did.

  4. Hi Ebony,

I agree with Mr. Webb, this is a great idea for a blog post. It makes me want to bake my own! I think I might make some with my daughter over the Easter weekend. We usually have fruit in our scones but my daughter prefers them without. So I think we'll try your recipe. I've never used vanilla essence of icing sugar in my ingredients before so I am looking forward to discovering what they will taste like. I'll let you know!

Thank you for sharing your recipe and clear instructions Ebony.
